发布时间 :2013-7-9 0:00:00

The Panama Canal Authority is studying the construction of a fourth set of new locks that would accommodate super post-Panamax vessels, which would run parallel to third set of locks the currently under construction, as part of its $5.2 billion expansion project, according to Breakbulk, JOCs sister publication.

The plan was unveiled at the American Association of Port Authorities Latin America Congress of Ports held in June in Bogota, Colombia.

We are looking at the demand and demand is what (will) rule (the project), said Rodolfo Sabonge, executive vice president of commercial planning and development for the canal authority, during a presentation. Size will matter.

The current Panama Canal expansion, scheduled for completion in June 2015, will accommodate post-Panamax vessels.
